DOG PARK
Lower Allen Community Park
Water fountains are available for use at the Dog Park.
Through a grant awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development, with support from Representative Jerry Nailor, a dog park has been built at Lower Allen Community Park.
Originally built at Beacon Hill the park was an instant success and required a more suitable location. On November 24, 2003, the Board of Commissioners decided to relocate the dog park at Beacon Hill to Lower Allen Community Park located at 4075 Lisburn Road. LACP is 110 acres with several pavilions, volleyball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, the "Barn" available for rent, several athletic fields and is bordered by the Yellow Breeches Creek.
There is an adjoining parking lot, which is plowed in the winter once the township roads are cleared. The relocation resulted in a slightly larger dog park, with small and large dog areas. A large area (1200 feet of fencing) enclosed with a 5-foot high chain link fence allows dogs to run and play off a leash. Double gates serve as a "holding area" to prevent dogs from getting out while other dogs enter and exit the dog park. The park is free to the public and available during regular park hours (dawn to dusk). Trash receptacles and bags are available for clean up.
